Freightlink announces Central / Eastern Europe backload service.

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

Freightlink has extended its European Ferry booking service, and launched Freightlink Forwarding, a premium European re-load service.

Freightlink books thousands of ferries monthly for haulage operators throughout Europe. By being in direct contact with these hauliers, as well as express operators, the team at Freightlink Forwarding can efficiently reload all types of vehicles to offer a true pan-European network.

As we spoke to more and more hauliers, we recognized growing requirements for a UK partner to backload their 16.5m artics and 18m road trains from the UK to Europe. Our ferry clients who are in the UK from Eastern Europe are extremely flexible with regards to where in Europe they are prepared to take a UK backload to. Lee Rossall, Operations Manager, explains “With a growing German economy, many of our hauliers simply want to cross back across the North Sea or Dover straits on a ferry, and deliver. They then find it relatively easy to find a second load to relocate the vehicle back to the depot in Eastern Europe, whether that is Poland, Albania, Czech Republic, Slovakia or somewhere else.”

We also have access to a growing number of express vehicles, capable of providing a comparable “UK to Europe airfreight” service. Lee comments, “Freightlink customers with up to 7m vans really can transport smaller express loads very very quickly. We have seen loads come into Heathrow airport, and be in Rome within 20 hours. That is service!” Unlike our full load service, these light hauliers tend to be based in the UK, and will always react quickly, and provide a very high level of service.
